Isn’t it wonderful to see new old faces?!
Social media feeds are filled with smiling St. Andrew’s families on their first Sunday back on campus. Fist bumps, elbow bumps, air high-fives, laughter, tears – and worship. Oh, the worship! It is so nice to see both long-time and new folks back in church. Every Sunday feels like a family reunion.
More Seating in the Sanctuary
Because so many are returning to worship we’ve reconfigured the seating in the new Sanctuary. While still maintaining a six-foot separation between individuals and family groups in each row, we were able to add 90 more chairs by moving the space between the rows to six-feet apart, whereas, previously, they were eight-feet apart.
I expect that we will maintain the distancing until the vaccine is more widely available.
Will You Serve?
As we resume a more normal routine there are any number of ministries that need your participation. Most pressing right now are our hospitality ministries: greeters, ushers, and a new ministry brought about by our online presence, online hosts. For the curious, an online host is a St. Andrew’s member who participates in the online conversations that accompany our Sunday worship feeds. They welcome online participants, answer questions, and share information. This is a ministry that can be done from your home.
If you are interested in serving in one of our hospitality ministries, please join us for lunch after the 10:45 service on Sunday, March 28 or contact Kyle Holtzhower (843.284.4346, or KHoltzhower@StAndrews.Church).
Easter at Boone Hall
Yes! We will be having an Easter service at Boone Hall. Yes, it will be different. But, won’t it be nice to be together! Because of the need to maintain social distancing, there will be no big tent nor 4000 chairs. You will need to bring your own chairs or a blanket. Seating will be spread out across the lawn. Families will worship together. You can find all the information about the service at our website: EasteratBooneHall.com.
Holy Week and Easter Services
For information regarding the full range of Holy Week services as well as Saturday night and Sunday morning Easter services on campus please check the Holy Week and Easter service schedule on our website. All services in the Historic Church will be restricted to 65 people with overflow into the Ministry Center Sanctuary. Services in the new Sanctuary will be restricted to 250 people. Of course, there is no participation limit at Boone Hall.
Miss Greta’s Home
If you’ve driven down Rose Lane you will have noticed that the lot has been completely cleared. We are currently working with the Town to get the necessary permits for grading and construction. Concurrently, we are finalizing with Miss Greta the architectural plans for the home.
New Methods of Giving
As you know, 100% of the mission and ministry of St. Andrew’s is supported by member giving. Covid has forced us to create new avenues and opportunities to give. In addition to direct debit giving we also have the ability for folks to give online at StAndrews.Church/Give, via text (843.310.4757 send a text with the amount you wish to give ), or Venmo @StAndrews-Church. If you give via Venmo your donation will be received as a cash transaction and will not appear on your record of contributions. Two giving kiosks have also been placed in the foyer of the Ministry Center and soon will be in the Narthex of the Historic Church. The breadth and depth of our donors has been and remains amazing. Thank you for your ongoing generous and faithful support of our common life and mission!
In the family,
Steve & Jacqui
