Ways to Give
There are many ways to contribute financially to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
Give Online
Visit our Online Giving Portal. You will be taken to a different, secure, website by which you may make your donation to support the mission and ministry of St. Andrew’s. You can make a one-time gift or set up a recurring donation.
Mobile Giving
Download the ShelbyNext giving app from the iTunes Store or Google Play. You’ll be asked to connect to St. Andrew’s when you first open the app. The easiest way to do so is to search by zip code (29464).
Give by Text – 843.310.4757
In order to give the first time, you will need to go through a set up process which will require using a smartphone and a credit or debit card.
- Create a new text message to 843.310.4757
- Your text message must contain the amount you wish to give, a space, then your location number.
- Mt Pleasant
- City Church
- Park Circle
- The first time you give via text message, you will receive a reply with a link to a secure URL in order to enter your credit/debit card information.
- At this point your donation will process and you will receive a confirmation text showing that your donation and registration were successful.
Once you have registered you can give at any time by texting the amount you wish to give and the location you attend.
Please note: If you do not indicate a location, the amount is credited to the Mt Pleasant campus.
Offering Plates, Baskets, and Boxes
Follow the instructions during the service for presenting your gift. In Mt. Pleasant, gifts may be made by dropping your offering in the boxes in the foyer or in the plate in the Historic Church. In Park Circle, a plate is passed and at City Church, you’ll bring your offering forward when you receive communion.
Please note that checks placed in the offering basket are recorded on the Sunday when they are received. In order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check.
Mail a Check
Mail your checks to the church office. The mailing address for all of St. Andrew’s is the same. Checks are recorded on the postmark date on the envelope:
St. Andrew’s Church
Attn: Finance Office
440 Whilden St
Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
If your bank has automated bill paying you can set up St. Andrew’s Church to receive electronically generated checks, allowing you an easier way to be systematic in your giving.
In order to receive the appropriate documentation you need for tax purposes your name and address must be clearly identifiable on your check. For gifts made by mail at year end, IRS regulations require that the postmark stamped on your envelope bear the same year as that for which you intend to receive credit for the gift. We are precluded by law from crediting in December any gift received by mail postmarked in January of the subsequent year.
Stock or Mutual Funds
You can donate appreciated securities – stock, mutual funds, bonds, ADRs (American Depository Receipts), and other ‘property’ – and often times receive a greater tax benefit than you would receive as compared to selling the appreciated securities and then donating cash. Donations of appreciated securities are recorded as a charitable gift at the appreciated amount. Also, by donating appreciated securities you can avoid recording a capital gain in the security (assuming the investment has appreciated and that you have held the asset for more than one year). You should check with a tax professional before initiating any transfer of securities.
If you would like to donate securities please contact Jorgia Hazelwood, Staff Accountant (JHazelwood@StAndrews.Church or 843.284.4371), before initiating the transfer.
For gifts of securities, please note that it may take four to five business days from the time your broker initiates a stock transfer to St. Andrew’s until the settlement date when the proceeds are credited to our account and recognized as a gift.
About Your Gift to St. Andrew’s
St. Andrew’s Church will try to honor all donor recommendations. The final decision as to how all contributed funds will be used is based upon the decision of the Vestry (governing board) in the best interest of the church.
