The Membership Process
There are three steps to becoming a member at St. Andrew’s. Either the Alpha Course or Discover St. Andrew’s, may be taken first. If you are considering membership at St. Andrew’s we encourage you to participate in whichever course is being offered at the time.
1. The Alpha Course
The Alpha Course is a nine-week course examining the core Christian beliefs where no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you like. Each evening begins with free dinner followed by a talk, and ends with a small group discussion. Childcare is always provided.
2. Discover St. Andrew’s
Discover St. Andrew’s is open to anyone and is designed to help you learn more about church in general and St. Andrew’s Church specifically. The course is a vital link for you to meet other folks exploring membership and what it means to be a part of St. Andrew’s. It is also a good opportunity to find out how to “plug in.” In the class you will discover what we believe, how we function and those things we believe essential for the life of every member. The class is generally taught over two Sunday lunches and childcare is provided.
3. New Members Service and Adult Baptism
Shortly after the conclusion of our Discover St. Andrew’s classes, we hold a New Members Service. At this service you will join other St. Andrew’s members for a service of commitment and dedication. If you have not been baptized your baptism will be scheduled for the same service.
Transfer of Membership
We regularly receive folks wishing to transfer their membership to St. Andrew’s. People come from a variety of backgrounds and faith journeys so we highly recommend that all those who wish to transfer into St. Andrew’s complete the Alpha Course and Discover St. Andrew’s. You should also notify your previous church of your decision to make St. Andrew’s your church home and request a letter of transfer. This letter should say that,
- You are a member in good standing.
- They are releasing you to St. Andrew’s spiritual care.
Please have the letter of transfer sent to:
